Evaluation - In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I have completed and achieved the deadline for my front cover of my music magazine, my final evaluation of my front cover is that I decided to have no color for my background and I have left it white, i did this because I feel that this gives it a more professional look about the magazine, also because it allows the main color themes of wink magazine to be pink and black, these colours also linking to my audience, when thinking of an artist within the pop music industry for females it is stereotypically thought of the colour pink however the black is also added for the the serious edge to the pop songs as they are emotional at time aswell. From this I have learnt that being able to link to the audience is an important key to construcuting a magazine for the audience of my choice. Also I chose one main image to grab the readers, making the image a mid shot, to show the importance of the innocent body language to contrast with the main cover line but still linking in with the audiences perception of innocent female pop artists. However I had one more image in the corner, rather small to show another music related story - to show that this magazine doesn't only hold one interesting story. Most magazines use the Serif font, however I challeneged this convention by going with a completley different font called Block Head. This font is very bubbly, bold and stands out, to challenge the image of what a Pop Music magazine would possibly look like, but still linking it within the audience of females into the pop genre. I believe that I have improved loads since my college magazine as this final completion of the front cover looks more professional and more like a magazine. My images on my front cover are all midshot ones, this is to show the body language in which is shown, here you can clearly see a well attituded, well postured, innocent female, teenager, clearly shown by the clothing choice and the makeup and flawless skin, this is a very common convention of a display of a female pop artist, it is important that the image is a midshot at its furthest because the female pop artists are extremely pretty, 'flawless' some will say. I have also used this innocent looking image to contrast with the main headline for the feature within my magazine. Because in my feature the quotes from this artist are very well spoken, nicely worded and polite, which highlight the female image for this genre of music. My contents page also shares the same fonts and colour scheme, aswell as my double page spread sheet. This task has helped me to learn how to use conventions correctly when applying it to a magazine, especially a music one as they are much different to gossip magazines. Also I have learnt how to challenege conventions by taking them from a different genred music magazine and applying it to my own understanding of what a pop music magazine may look like.

I have taken into account that I had learned how to use different devices on photo shop like quick selection tool this has allowed me to take the back ground out from an original picture and make it into whatever cut out i want, possibly with some parts of the back ground or just the cut out of the person, represented below.

Original untouched image.
Here are my images to show the device of cutting. This helped me to make my magazine more professional, and to look more like a music magazine.
