In today's lesson we focused on evaluating the audience for our music magazines. We talked about our actual audience and how we would approach the audience of our choice. We drew different images of a typical fan of a certain artist, we had to think about their clothing, their job, their age, gender and whole lifestyle including hobbies. I focused on a typical fan of the artist Drake.
I drew an image that looked fairly similar to this one who is the artist Drake. My image included a similar hat like Drakes, a relatively baggy comfortable top, some 'bling' (jewellery) baggy jeans with the underwear hanging out and some classy trainers that are fairly expensive. I chose this type of outfit because a typical fan of drake would preferably dress similar to the artist, to mirror the image, which shows the fan to follow a persons particular style. This person would also have baggy trousers because Drake may be published like this, or at least have baggy jeans. The way that Drake is published has an effect on the audience due to clothing - all to do with mirroring the image of a like able person. the gender of my fan would be males. this is because of Drakes lyrics, talking about women mainly - and a males view on women, therefore this appeals males more than females in general. This fans ethnicity would preferably be black because of the type of music Drake presents - same ethnic. Also the age that this fan would be is teenager audience, from the age of 15 - 19, this is based to who the music is aimed at and what his lyrics stand for, and again linking to his style of clothing, it is not linked to adults because adults would not dress like Drake does, therefore more suited for teenagers.
So evaluating this artist i have taken pictures of some friends that can be viewed as typical fans for my type of audience which is young females ages from 15 - 19, who preferably listen to pop music.
Here is one image of mine that I believe would be represented as a person of my audience choice, this image shows a very bright outlook on this image, bright eyes bright top and also the main thing being female and at the age of 17. The colour red shows here the brightness, within the pop genre colours and audience members of the pop genre music tend to wear bright coloured clothing, compared to some that listened to a punk rock band, may possibly be found in all black with skulls, stereotypically. I would say that this girl would have a job and works as here you can see the hair different colours with roots, implying the hair dye, which requires money, this stereotypical friendly face for my target audience would be possibly naturally be a friendly person, therefore holding a job that requires friendly motion like a waitress.
Here again another picture showing a typical fan, you can already see that this person could be a fan by the clothing, a typical colourful dress, which are also bright colours, these kind of colours are represented a lot within pop music in magazines, also the very 'girly girl' look of the type of clothing, the dress and the long baggy cardigan and again female. The age of this person would probably be 17/18 - looking at the clothing and guessing from the style of hair I would say this girl would listen to all types of music, anything with a good beat and preferably some old music, as when females are presented wearing clothes from the 80's or 90's (clothes coming back into fashion) may have a link in with the the sort of music that was around back in that time. For this persons job I would say she would work in a clothes store or say a resturant, someone with a helpful look and a genuine smile, someone who likes like they are easy to approach.
Linking to the image above, a very popular female artist within the pop genre, could be suited as a role model for young teenage girls - linking to the image above you can see how the two have similar hairstyles - the classy middle parting hair, long not too wacky just long - the image above Cheryl could be suggested that this is an example of how the audience reflect and mirror other artists from that genre.
The second part of the question linking to the second question - How do you attract/address your audience?
I created a table which included different social groups, and within each social group I split it into two sections. Content and Technical.

From this overall evaluation on chosing an audience for my magazine I have learnt that it is important to consider your audience wisely as the magazine all depends on what the audience want to see and what they would expect. Also if I was to do this task again I was consider the audience more, instead of the survey I would have done further research into the audience I had selected, preferably go out and interview teenage girls and ask them themselves what they would want to see, this would have helped me a huge a lot as it would have given me a wider range of results to work with making sure that I have fully understoof the target audience of my choice.
